Isaac COX burial 38 August 1833, aged 34 - so the baptism found  - 3 November 1799 St Mary's Northgate, Kent, seems correct.

Ancestry has the entry for the Marriage at Yate, 19 April 1789 of Thomas COX and Grace BURREL (Grace's surname is rather faint)

? Could be talking Military (Army) - Canterbury Kent was a Garrison

So, checking with the National Archives (Just Google A2a) and searching for Thomas COX, Yate

Reference: WO 97/1094/267

Description:  Thomas COX, Born Yate, Gloucestershire, Served in Gloucestershire Militia.  Discharged, aged 57

Date: 1788-1825

Held by: The National Archives, Kew.

Legal Status: Public Record

Language: English

Closure Status: Open Document, Open Description

----

? There is a baptism at Rangeworthy, Gloucester (about 4 miles from Yate) - of Thomas COX, 25 December 1768, parents: Isaac & Hannah.

Grace COX, buried at Gloucestershire St Mary de Crypt - 11 October 1846 aged 78 c1768 - residence: North Hamlet

Thomas COX, buried at Gloucestershire St Mary de Crypt - 27 July 1842, aged 74

There is a Will for Thomas COX dated 21 December 1842, Pensioner of Gloucester - Will look at Ancestry and see what is says.

This is possible

1841 Census, Glos St Mary de Lobe

COCKS

Thomas 73 - occupation, given as IND (Independent)  - all born in County
Grace 73
Harriet 15  (possibly Harriet born 1825 Sussex)

owns a number of properties -

Wife: Grace

Grand-daughter, Maria COX, daughter of his deceased Son, Isaac

Oh wow you have done so much and it is all coming together. The clincher has to be Harriet's information this all seems to tie in. She is on the 1851 Gloucester census staying with a family her occupation was a stay maker and she states she was born in Brighton.
Thank you so much I really appreciate what you have managed to find for me.
I will now print everything out and get it into Legacy to get it all into order.
Thank you everyone especially Capetown, I didn't expect so much wonderful help from my question.

Sue, the information from the birth came from 'Trish' - but it is on Ancestry.  When I saw Isaac was born in Canterbury, Kent, and know this area was a Garrison Town - hence checking the National Archives, which is always useful, as it shows what County Records Office information is held.

Under:

England, Select Births and Christenings 1538-1975

Name: Isaac COX

Gender: Male

Baptism Date: 3 November 1799

Baptism Place: St Mary-Northgate, Canterbury, Kent, England

Father: Thomas COX
Mother: Grace COX

FHL Number: 1751626

Thomas COX information from the National Archives (also free on FindmyPast) should make useful reading.

I just Google: A2a

various websites - but it's Discovery|National Archives  then  just Googel Thomas COX Yate

Hi there,
Thanks for replying. Have been into Archives which told me FindMyPast had the record so now have a copy of that.
Just needed to clarify where the source was from, thank you. I will go to the library and search Ancestry as well that way I can also print the info. out.
I did go down the other day and saved the Bap. of Isaac's children, well I thought I had saved them when I copied them onto the memory stick when I got home they wouldn't open on my computer. Hate using other computers when you get so use to your own and your own way of doing things.
I have now started to get things into some order and inputting it into Legacy can then print it all out and see where the gaps are and what needs confirming.
I will try looking for Maria as well.
Thank you again.
