Help with Double Marriage?
« on: Sunday 09 December 18 11:06 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

Yesterday, by chance, I came across some information that I just cannot reconcile with my family tree.
I have a relative, Jennie Elizabeth Andrews who marries a Walter Cordock in Manchester in 1916. According to all the information I have, they had five children, the last of which was born in 1936.

Yesterday I came across a marriage certificate for Jennie Andrews (with the same father and same occupations) marrying an Ernest Thomas in Manchester in 1922. Her sister Edith was even the witness.

Any suggestions as to what might be going on here?

Paul
I lived in Ardwick, Manchester in the early 1960s as a small child and much travelling of the world has now led me to want to know more about my roots. Carter, Beckwith, Connolly, Heron and Kelly are all names that form part of my family tree.

Have you tried locating them both in 1939  - I can see Jennie E Cordock (bn 1893)

Modified - There is also a Jennie Thomas that would fit bn 1891

So two different people with similar information?

Which one is yours - the 1922 marriage with sister Edith or ???

What is the fathers name?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Thanks,

Jenny Elizabeth was born in 1893 in Manchester. Robert Oswald Andrews is the father for both marriages.........occupation warehouseman
I thought maybe a sister but cannot trace a sibling with a similar name?

Father Robert O.

ANDREWS, JENNY       mmn BECKWITH
1891  Sept Quarter in CHORLTON  Volume 08C  Page 820

Other siblings
William 1889
Gladys 1892
May 1893
Robert 1895
Alice 1896
Maud 1898
Edith 1900

I can't see an Andrews/Beckwith birth for a Jennie Elizabeth - none of Robert O & Betsy's children are showing as having middle names on the GRO index.

Thanks

If I understand where this is going....
Jenny Andrews is my relative who married Ernest Thomas in 1922. The Jenny Elizabeth Andrews who marries a Cordock in 1916 is no relation.

That has major implications for my family tree but better right than wrong
