I had another look through the newspapers and found a number of interesting items, including the marriage announcement for William Mumford and Ruth Ryland.

And it looks like there's another son of John Mumford, Charles Cotton Mumford, died 1862 aged 41.

Herts Guardian, Agricultural Journal, and General Advertiser

Epitome Of News
On Sunday forenoon, as Mr Mumford, of Manor House, Shacklewell, was crossing the south end of Princess-street, by the Bank, he suddenly staggered, fell, and instantly expired. He was identified by a porter in the employ of deceased sons, lace manufacturers, in Milk-street, City. Mr Mumford, who had retired from business some years ago, and was highly esteemed in the City, had for many years been a communicant at Dr Bennett's Chapel, in falcon-square, at which place the intelligence of his sudden death were received by the office-bearers  - who alone were present when the information reached them - with the deepest manifestations of sorrow. The deceased gentleman left his sons' warehouse, 1 Milk-street, on Saturday night in good health, and slept at one of his son's houses in Ludgatehill, where, on Sunday, he had appointed to dine, and to meet his family and a number of friends.

Amazing information and once again Cuffie, thank you for your time and support - I am very grateful. The report about John's death and his extra son, Charles are really interesting.

Hi Keyboard

Yes I had noticed the Ironmongers lane address for William.
Could have been the home address after Goldsmith St. ( it is just off Cheapside, very close to Wood st. and Goldsmiths st.) before the family moved to the manor, Shacklewell. Or he was born at a property belonging to friends or family ?
The St Mary le Bow marriages for 1814 has Christiana of the parish St.Martins Ludgate and having to have consent to marry from her father John Philpott.

Business addresses seem to have been Wood st., Milk st. and latter for the sons Bread st.
William Heskins was a business partner of John's whilst at Wood st.

Mumford - London. Jones & Evans - Llanbeblig Caernarvon.

Hi Cuffie and Keyboard
Well the marriage cert for William and Ruth Ryland arrived today.
His father is confirmed as John, occ lace merchant as is William's occ. address Shacklewell, Middlesex.
Both his mother, Christiana Mumford and his married sister Sarah Stewart are present as witnesses.  :D

So I need to find out why a William (?) is named as his father at the christening in Huntingdon (thanks Keyboard).
Or is there another William with a Christiana as a mother  >:( unlikely.
