Fletcher, just starting
« on: Sunday 09 December 18 20:53 GMT (UK) »
My Grandfather and 4 siblings came from Stratford on Avon around 1908 when he was about 6. Famine. All children where under 16, we think. My grandfather, Albert E.and his brother James where sent to a Family in PEI. As far as we know the other children went farther West. Edward passed away in his 20s and Albert lived well into his 70s. Of course he would never talk of it and had no interest at all in finding his Family. Abit crusty he was. Back in the 70s a Professor or Doctor Fletcher came to the Island for a speaking engagement of some sort and was the spitting image of Albert. He forbad my father from contacting this man. When Albert became old enough to draw a pension my father located his birth record from England and found out Albertwas actually 4 years older than he thought. How my father found out and where the records went, no one knows. His parents where Samuel E. and Anne nee Smith. Any help would be great

Here’s the birth

Results:
Name:   Mother's Maiden Surname:    Order:
FLETCHER, ALBERT  EDWARD     SMITH     Order
GRO Reference: 1902  J Quarter in STRATFORD ON AVON  Volume 06D  Page 717

You can order a PDF of the cert from  https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

Which is the cheapest way to get it -  no good for legal things though.

Samson remarried at St Paul, Warwick 9 Oct 1915 to widow Ellen May Brind daughter of William Newton. His baptism was 26 April 1869 at All Saints, Emscote son of Denis, tin man, and Isabella Fletcher.
Pretty sure it's the James registered in Warwick. Census ref  RG13/2978 folio 18 pg 28 for Annie & James Fletcher.

I don’t see a fifth child.  If there is one, would it have been a baby born at the time of the death of Annie?
