Hans Prebensen - His missing person's record
« on: Sunday 09 December 18 22:00 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone and merry Christmas  :)

This regards my great great uncle Hans Prebensen. A lot of information has been found about him - these are the links: https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=604769.0https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=782130.0

So the last known sighting of him being alive was on the 18th May 1918 https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/TAIDT19180518.2.15.12?query=Prebensen. His niece Anna Hills (who lived in Seattle Washington, USA) sent a letter to the NZ police in 1919 as she had not heard from Hans and asked the NZ police to see if they could locate or find out what happened to Hans. Hans Prebensen appeared in the NZ Police Gazette in both 1919 and 1921(see attached).

A question I have is do you think Hans disappeared in 1918?
How long it would take for a person to be missing and have a letter sent to USA from the NZ? Longer than 6 months?

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Ashley
