Hi does anyone have access to parish baptisms for Eastwood, Notts. Trying to find parents of William Tindall born circa 1817, not sure of spelling Tindall. Any help appreciated carolmc

No obvious baptism found, his marriage certificate will at least give fathers name and occupation, witnesses, etc.

William Tindall married Eliza Meakin, 11 Dec 1838, St Wilfrid, Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Registered in Basford Dec Qtr 1838, Vol 15, page 905.

Hi,

On all census William's wife is down as Emma born 1821 Eastwood and all children are correct as Jo has put above.  Emma Meakin was christened 6 Aug 1821 at St Mary's Eastwood father is George. Maybe Emma was recorded wrong on marriage.

If you don't have the marriage I can have a look for it in the records at Nottingham Archives maybe tomorrow if not then next week.

Thank you for replying. Only proof of Eastwood is on the census, Tindall family moved around, so he may have been baptised somewhere else. I may be at a brick wall! regards carolmc

Hi again. Concerned about Eliza Meakin marriage. Both Wiiliam an his wife Emma shown  as born Eastwood on the census from 1841 to 1881. Marriage record also shows Eliza Varley and a Hannah, it would be useful if the image of the parish marriage were available as the transcribe may help solve this part of the tree. Sorry I can't afford certificates, but I do appreciate the help from rootschat, regards carolmc

George married Phoebe Stone 24 Sep 1832 but the witnesses are no help.

It may be worth noting this Marriage for the future;

Hi above I put that Emma's father on christening was George sorry it should have been Gregory and mother is Ann.

I have been into Nottingham Archives to day and got the marriage of William Tindall:

11 Dec 1838 at Kirkby in Ashfield,
William Tindall, age is down as a minor, Bachelor, Collier, of Kirkby in Ashfield, father John Tindall, a collier.
Eliza Meakin, age a minor, spinster, of Kirkby in Ashfield, father Gregory Meakin, a collier
wittiness's were George Tindall and Francis Shacklock.

I think Eliza should have been Emma born 1821 as Eliza daughter of was born 1832 Kirkby in Ashfield to young to marry in 1838.
