Gothard/Clifton Family

Hello!

I’ve hit a roadblock in my research of my Gran’s side of the family. I’m trying to find out a bit more about her great-great-grandmother & grandfather.

Joseph Gothard
Born approx 1807 in Littleport, Cambridge.

Charlotte Clifton
Born 1809 in Ruskington Lincolnshire

Both married in St Pancras, 1831.

I have found a Joseph Gothard who was born in Cambridge in FamilySearch but it say he was married to a Maria which doesn’t correlate (unless he was married before...)

Any help on finding his birth place/date would be much appreciated!

There is another Joseph Gothard born in Littleport and died there too - he is in the census (in Littleport) - presumably this is the man that married Maria.

There are two baptisms in Littleport which you may consider

Joseph GOTHERD bapt. 19 February 1809 Littleport, son of James and Hannah

Joseph GODDARD bapt. 21 April 1805 Littleport , son of Joseph and Frances

When Joseph married Charlotte one of the witnesses was Thomas Clifton.
