Location of Tollriggs in the Parish of Arthuret
« on: Wednesday 12 December 18 04:54 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone shed any light on this.

I have a baptism record for an Adam Cairns in 1868 at the Nicholforest Chapelry and the family's abode is given as Tollriggs, Parish of Arthuret. I'm guessing it's an outlying farm.

Cheers, Doug.

Looking at the family in 1871 the family is living at Toddle? Riggs, Breckonhill within Arthuret so I wonder if this is the property https://maps.nls.uk/view/102340704#zoom=5&lat=4070&lon=1832&layers=BT  Could it be in the way it was pronounced??

Kay

Added - It looks like the property is still there

Hi Kay

I'd say you've got it spot-on. Thank-you so much.

Cheers, Doug

I would agree, Kay has this spot on. Today it is known as Toddhillrigg and is still a working farm. The Church at Nicholforest is nearer than the one at Arthuret and would would be more convenient as the road that runs past Todhillrigg also passes Nicholforest Church.
