It doesn’t look as though mum did die young, but she may have been abandoned by her “husband” and had to place some of the children in a home, from where they were sent to Canada.  The Strachan surname seems to have been abandoned; the couple may never have been married.

You will find what is left of the family in 1911 by searching in Taunton for Louisa Woodland, 13 b Torquay.

Lot of work avm!

The mother may be Mary Woodland (see 1911) born Langford Budville, in 1867.

I cannot find a Florence, born in Langford 1867-1875, but Mary fits the bill by loosing a few years (Victorian ladies!!).
Mary was the daughter of George and Diana Woodland and I have a fair bit of information on that family.
