Can you give us some idea of where in Wilts,  William was born?

I've looked at a few parishes but there are too many to go thru each.

Hi philrmoon,

If you go to FamilySearch, I think you will find he is recorded as marrying 24-12-1788 in Erlstoke, Wilts to Betty Brown.

Using the transcripts from WiltsFHS for this parish, he is listed as;
24-12-1788 William Offer, abode - of this parish to Elizabeth Browne, also otp By Banns

Hi

Sorry to be a nuisance ( thanks for the replies )

But you said that William offer married 24/12/1788 in Wiltshire to betty browns

Was there an e in brown ??

Does it give her parents or her age

Does it give his parents and or age

( on a family tree it gives a William offer alford being born 1755 Erdington, Wiltshire, I know you shouldn't take for granted family trees )

Regards Phil

Hi Phil,
24-12-1788 William Offer, abode - of this parish to Elizabeth Browne
If you look I put an "E"  at the end of Elizabeth's name.

There was no mention of either parent's names or ages.

Two possible baptisms for William Offer (no mention of Alford):

Edington - ? January 1755 (edge of page missing but following baptism date is 9 January 1755) - son of John and Hester Offer - Edington is about 2 miles from Earlestoke.

Winterbourne Earls - 2 July 1758 - William son of Robert and Mary Offier - Winterbourne Earls is about 25 miles from Earlestoke.

Assuming I'm looking at the correct tree on Ancestry, then there are some children, said to be siblings of William Offer, with the surname Alford  :-\

Thomas, said to be baptised at Atworth on 20 November 1796, is the son of William and Betty ALFRED.

Hannah, daughter of William and Betty Alford - 17 March 1799 - Atworth

BUT, then I can't readily see a marriage between William Alford/Alfred and Betty ???:-\
