James Ribbons - born abt 1840 Suffolk - marr Eliza ??

Hi all,

James Ribbans b1840 Ipswich is in the 1871 census for Kensington, London (transcribed as Kibbons)  with wife Eliza, same age, also born Suffolk (Witton?) together with dau Fanny and a Sarah Sheldrick aged 20 sister (presumably of Eliza).

Is anyone able to help with a marriage of James as I'm trying to see if he fits into my tree, please?

I haven't been able to narrow down his birth/bapt as yet nor can I find any other censues in which he/they appear. I've used Kibbons also in case that variation has been continued, without success.

Eliza's sister Sarah was living with the family in 1871

Their daughter Fanny is listed as Hanny on the GRO Birth Index  and Harry on FreeBMD

Many thanks for finding that marriage - it confirms my suspicion regarding Sarah.

Now to work out who his parents were and where he fits into rather lager "Ribbans" tree.

I wonder where they are after 1871?

Fanny lists her address at May Street and I think this is her parents living at 29, May Street, Fulham in 1881

Eliza Ribbons remarried Thomas Ilett on  25 Dec 1890  at St John, Walham Green, Hammersmith and Fulham   

Eliza is listed as a widow age 50 with father Ephraim Sheldrake

I couldn't find an actual marriage entry for James & Eliza on the i/net to confirm who his father was, but feel sure he is the s/o James & Eliza (nee Pack)
