Austin family

G'day all from OZ,
I am trying to obtain information on this family.
What I have at the moment is a John Austin born about 1789 and at his death his father is quoted as Edward.
It is said that he married a Catherine Dean (we think) 9 Feb 1822.
We have a list of children born as follows an the years are about:
John 1823
Elizabeth 1824
Edward 1826
William 1827
Catherine 1830
Julia 1832
Sophia 1833
and one other.
It is possible that John's wife Catherine died before John came to Australia in 1839 as the records show he arrived with his wife and 8 children.
Accordingly the thought is that he remarried before he left England.
Any help would be greatly appreciate.

So far there is no confirmation that those we found for you, are actually the family who arrived on the ship you mentioned.

There is another large family with John as head in Sydney, who could be a candidate for that arrival. His father not Edward.

The children are all indexed as Austen in Burmarsh of John and Catherine.

A Catherine Austen, born 1796, was buried in Burmarsh on 8th August 1837.

I can't be certain that this was John's wife.

There are some marriages between 1837 and 1839. One to Mary Stokes in Hythe on 24th February 1839 gives John as a widower of Hythe, grazier, son of Edward, Grazier.
