Elizabeth NUTCHER married Samuel MARSHALL at Alverstoke, (Portsmouth, Hampshire) on 11 Aug 1823
They had 7 children I am aware of including for the purposes of this query

Amelia Eliza 1836 - poss d 1931

In 1841 the family are (with the exception of the eldest son William Samuel) in Hawke Street, Portsea

Unfortunately Samuel (who was a waterman) drowned in Portsmouth Harbour on Christmas Day 1849
The newspaper report of this indicates his wife was with him, so still alive. Address at Burial is Wickham Street, Portsea.
Where is Elizabeth in 1851? Not in Wickham street
There are these women at 12 Central Street, Portsea

BUT I cannot find a marriage for Elizabeth MARSHALL to anyone NELSON
other than a Dec qtr 1850 Plymouth one to a John Nelson but it seems a bit far away.
nor a marriage for Sarah Ann MARSHALL to anyone M*cFarlin/M*cFarland/M*Farlane at all.
She is only 18 at the 1851, (but there are a lot of early marriages in this family so I think it is reasonable to look for it from 1847)
However, Amelia Eliza MARSHALL married William Henry MARTYN in 1852

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N24Z-4Y9At both marriages her father was named as Samuel MARSHALL. The first time a Waterman, the second a Victualler ( I am happy with that as the Marshalls all seem to have had a side line of running a pub of some sort).
She says she is age 20, which is stretching it, but her age reverts to be closer to the truth in subsequent censuses.
There are a number of questions that arise from this
1. Death of Elizabeth Marshall after 1849? (Not the 1860 death, I have that cert)
However, if the 1851 census is her then
2. If she married Mr NELSON, when, where and who was he?
3. I cannot find a death for Elizabeth NELSON that fits
4. Ditto for Sarah Ann marriage to McFARLIN and where is she subsequently?
There is quite a bit of intermarriage between the Samuel MARSHALL and John NUTCHER families and the family of John NUTCHER (who was born in 1803 and
MAY be a brother of Elizabeth, I really don’t know as I have his baptism but not hers) were in the Chatham area for a good period. But the 1856 Elizabeth NELSON death Medway reg is not her (age 0)
If anyone can see their way through this muddle I should be very pleased!
