Seeking help on the Stace family of Epping.
« on: Saturday 15 December 18 14:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I'm hoping there is someone out there who is able to assist in my research. I'm trying to find information on the following individuals.

Mary Pegg(e) born around 1630-1640. Married George Stace in Epping on 11/3/1655. Looking for her parents.

Anne Mason born around 1663 possibly in Loughton. Married George Stace(Jr) in Loughton on 1/10/1696. Looking for her parents.

Mary Perry born c1735 possibly in Epping. Married Richard Stace in Epping on 24/10/1756. Looking for her parents.

Jane Hummerstone born 1775 in Epping. Married James Stace in Epping on 15/5/1797. Parents were John Hummerstone & Susannah Smith. Looking for Susannah's mother's maiden name. Susannah's father is Thomas born in Chipping Onger in 1733. Her mother is Mary (no other details).
Also trying to trace records for John Hummerstone's parents. They are another John Hummerstone, and Mary Tanson, born c1720.

Hopefully some of these names will crop up on someone's tree.

Jonathan.

Mary the daughter of Thomas Pegg 2 Aug 1640. There are a George and Katherine having children before 1631. There was a Marie baptised to George pidge and Katherine ... think it was 1631-32 but difficult to read, whereas the Pegg ones are clear.

Great, thanks very much. I'll make a start on sifting through those individuals over the coming days.  :)

Where and when did John hummerstone and Susannah smith marry? There’s a John and Mary humerston having a child in 1769 and then John and Susannah having children from 1772 onwards. Couldn’t find a death for Mary and couldn’t find a marriage for John and Mary or John and Susannah. Checked Epping, Theydon Bois, Theydon mount, Theydon garnon, stapleford abbots and Tawney, Stanford rivers, coopersale, Loughton parish registers.

Found the marriage of John and Susannah: Theydon garnon 1763. She was of the parish and he was from stapleford tawney. Their deaths are in Theydon garnon too. John 11/9/1816 aged 75 and Susannah 18/12/1821 aged 81.
So the John and Mary must either be the parish clerk’s error or a different couple. There are very few hummerstones in any of the parishes though.

Mary Perry. There are two baptisms in Theydon Garnon (none in Epping of any Perrys until 1750s, although some female Perrys marry in the 1730s).
One is to Thomas and Margaret January 1734/5 and the other to Abraham and Mary April 1737.
The witness on the wedding to Richard garlington stace in 1756 is Daniel Perry, so if we can find one of them having a Daniel, then we’ll know which one it is.

John humerston and Mary tanson married in 1737 in hitchin Hertfordshire. It’s likely their births are in Hertfordshire rather than Essex?

You’re welcome. You could try posting on the Hertfordshire board?
