If anyone has access to the Darsham baptism records, I would appreciate a check being made to see if WC was baptised there.

If yes, can you please let me know the date and parents as well as any possible siblings.

Brother James b 1785 Darsham is living with William in 1851.

If no baptism found for William - a search could be made for James to establish their parents names

Thanks, found him in 1851, parents & others of interest. I think the records may only be available at a Suffolk RO unless someone has a transcription.

I checked the Darsham parish register but couldn't see a baptism there for William - a James and Elizabeth Churchyard (late Aldred) are baptising children in the parish at this time though:

Elizabeth 6th July 1774
Hannah 3rd October 1779
James 10th December 1780
James 16th November 1783
John 1st May 1785 (bn 22nd April)
Rebecca 13th April 1788 (bn 24 December 1787)
Robert 10th July 1791 (bn 5th March)

James Churchyard (b) and Elizabeth Aldred (sp)
Married at Darsham 23rd March 1774
Witnesses Mary Aldred and Thomas Rouse

Many thanks for looking.

I now think that the WC who claims to be born at Darsham is probably alive on the 1851 census. My WC appears to have died in 1844 so they cannot be the same person.

Back to the drawing board

Thanks again

Darsham also had a Methodist chapel. Possible alternative.
Also Suffolk was a great Congregationalist stronghold, I have lots of relatives around Suffolk baptised in those types of meeting halls
