John William Driscoll B. New York 1834

Sorry if this is wrong but am looking for details of John William Driscoll born New York 1834 to Micheal Driscoll (B. Ireland abt 1805) and Elizabeth  Boyd (b. abt 1807 London, England) They were married on 18th July 1830.
They had a daughter Ellen who was born in 1833 London. I have of Ellen and Elizabeth crossing to New York in June 1833 (Ellen was 6 months old ) but no record of Micheal.
They then sailed back to the UK about 1837 because they then had another Daughter in 1838 b. London. All I know about John is the year and place.
Any help would be greatfully received

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I  was looking for his birth date and also when his father arrived in the country.
Thank you for the other info which confirmed my own details but I  didn't know about sophie so thanks for that.

I'm not sure from your post whether he was born in New York City or New York state, as they keep their vital records separately.  There are some New York City birth records that go back that far and available in Family History Centers.  https://wwwp.familysearch.org/wiki/en/New_York_City,_New_York_Genealogy#New_York_City_Birth_Records  As it notes here, births were underreported early on, so I wouldn't be surprised if no record exists for him.

New York state did not require vital registration until well after the 1830's, so I would not expect to find a birth record held there. 

Sometimes, churches will have baptism records, but the location would probably need to be narrowed down.

Thanks for the reply. I suspected as much as have been looking for 5 years without success. I believe it was New York city but can't be sure as all the details just say New York.

This has a Michael Driscoll, 30, arriving from London 16 May 1834.

A discrepancy is birthplace given as England.

Unfortunately I don't think this is him. Apart from the fact he says born in England, I can't believe he would send his wife and daughter over nearly a year earlier
