Carnsdridge or Carnrodridge in Ewes??
« on: Monday 17 December 18 05:55 GMT (UK) »
In the 1871 Scotland Census my ancestor, Elizabeth Cairns (b. 1857 Canonbie), is working as a servant at an address in Ewes.

Its transcribed as either Carnsdridge (ancestry) or Carnrodridge (findmypast).

Does anyone have any ideas as what the name actually was.

Cheers, Doug.

On the image it might be Carwoodridge??  :-\   Near Burnwood Cottage, Blackhall and Ewesless but I can't see it on a map of the area although there is a Carwoodrigg Burn https://maps.nls.uk/view/75500448#zoom=3&lat=3879&lon=5393&layers=BT

This looks a possible Carewoodrig to the east of Burnwood https://maps.nls.uk/view/74426659#zoom=5&lat=5232&lon=3440&layers=BT

Added - Scotlands Places Carewoodrig   Shepherd John Telfer which ties in with the occupant in  the 1871 census  http://www.rootschat.com/links/01n5z/
