DNA results
« on: Tuesday 18 December 18 22:36 GMT (UK) »
I have my DNA on GEDmatch and so does my paternal cousin,if I compare my "matches" to my cousins and there are no matches does this mean that the matches to me are more likely to be on the maternal line, conversely if there is an extremely small match, there is a relationship somewhere.

Whilst a lack of match doesn't rule out a relationship, it makes it more unlikely.

Small matches have to be presumed to be random and should not be relied upon.
Thomas, Davies, Jones, Walters, Daniel in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. That should narrow it down a bit!
Vincent: Fressingfield, Suffolk, Stockton & Sunderland.
Murtha/Murtaugh: Dundalk & Sunderland
Ingram: Cairnie by Huntly, Scotland then Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.
Bardouleau: London - in memory of my stepmother Annie Rose née Bardouleau who put up with a lot from me.

Thank you diplodicus, you confirmed my thoughts. Most  of my matches are 4th cousin or further so I was hoping to cut down my research, at least it is a signpost.
