Salomon Hartog Stuart Ancestors Netherlands/Germany
« on: Wednesday 19 December 18 14:52 GMT (UK) »
Following on from this thread....https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=679362.0

I am now trying to go backwards and have failed miserably so far.... ;D

As far as I can see 'my' Salomon Hartog Stuart was born on 14 April 1817 in Amsterdam son of Hartog Salomon Offenbach (also Hartog Salomon Stuart/Solomon Hart Snr) and Mietje Alexander Haring (Maria).  The Haring family I think I have sorted out but its the male line that I am again stuck with....

Hartog Salomon Offenbach seems to be the son of Salomon Aron Offenbach and Annaatje (Hannah/Anna) Jacob, born in around 1784 in Amsterdam.  There seems to be an elder brother Joseph born around 1770, place not known.

There is some suggestion that the Offenbach's came from Frankfurt, Germany and Hartog Salomon 's father was Aron Ovenbach.  https://www.dutchjewry.org/genealogy/ashkenazi/17142.htm

but I cannot find:

- Salomon Offenbach and Annaatje Jacob's marriage (although it is suggested it around 1770)
- Any other children they had between Joseph and Hartog or either side of them  ;D

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thank you

According to his marriage certificate to Roosje, 23 January 1801, Salomon Aron was indeed from Frankfurt. Roosje hailed from Nimwegen (Nijmegen) More than likely this is where he may have maried Anaatje Jacobs.

me again ....  :)

I think that this could be a possibility for the Amsterdam marriage you're after:
Inschrijvingsdatum (registration date): 11-10-1771
naam bruidegom (groom's name): Aaron, Salemon
naam bruid (bride's name): Josephs, Hanna
bronverwijzing (source reference): DTB 746, p.213
opmerkingen (notes): Huwelijksintekeningen van de PUI.
Ondertrouwregister (marriage declaration register): NL-SAA-26165914

Oh well done!!  :o So that means her surname was Josephs and not Jacobs which would tie in with the son whom was called Joseph. According to this marriage certificate though, he is from Amsterdam. So there's the possibility that he is not the same one who married Roosje in 1801 who claims to be from Frankfurt?

Yes I 'm convinced that it is one and the same. Everything adds up except for that at the time of his first marriage, he claims to be from Amsterdam. Perhaps he just meant that he was living there. Either way, I was not able to find a birth for him in Amsterdam.

Hi Treespirit (again... ;D)

They are an interesting(!) little bunch this lot and also very evasive so I am not surprised he might have flipped his place of origin   ;)

I couldn't find the 2 boys or any other births among the Amsterdam indexes. And the various films  that had to do with the Portgese Jewish community weren’t of much use either.

Eventually I found an online film containing “Births of the German Jewish Congregation of Amsterdam” especially as it mentioned (among others) “Bk A 4 Geboorten (mannen) 1740-1800”. It sounded so very promising until I opened the film …   :'(  :'(  :'(
