Date Old Photo Please. Man in a garden
« on: Wednesday 19 December 18 15:50 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone date this photograph please.

Can anyone give a rough idea of the date it was taken going by the mans suit, no names or marks on back of the photo.

Thank you.

Sorry, can't even guess at a date, but here's a better sized image to show more detail and help with the dating.

I'd say 1930s-40s but I may be way out.

Do you have any idea at all  who it is?  Also, does it have anything on the back?

Hi,

Thanks for enlargement McGroger, can see bicycle wheel in background with maybe a dynamo or light attached?

Gadget,  It may well be a Great Grandparent who died in 1927, so I am hoping that this photo may have been taken pre that year. This is a copy of the photo and I am trying to find out if there are any identifying marks on the back but sender said they don't remember seeing any but will check.

Thanks.

Going on just the contrast and sharpness in the print rather than the actual subject, I would take a stab at 1950s. If it was earlier, it was a fairly decent camera for snapshots.

Thanks Handypandy,

I agree withwhat you are saying, but maybe the photograph was taken by one of those guy's who went round on his bicycle taking photo's, he would have had a decent camera would'nt he?

Thanks.

It may be a 1920s 30s  style suit but photo taken in 1950s so maybe someone born around 1900s.

but photo taken in 1950s

What makes you think it's a 1950s pic?
