I think I can see a top hat against the rh edge but can't work out what it's resting on.  And I agree that the wall vent looks as if it's had some repair work, I think it's just an air vent but if it's been repaired then the house isn't new.

I finally managed to spot the bicycle.  To me it looks a bit lightweight to be as early as 1920s.

I don't think he's in his work clothes, I think it's a special occasion and he's wearing his Sunday best.  Somebody's wedding?

They”top hat” is a plant pot and its shadow ,resting on a chair.

Viktoria, now you've said plant pot I can't imagine how I ever thought it was a top hat!  Many thanks.

I too thought it was a top hat at first,a Victorian one as the top of the crown seemed to flare out.
But then I noticed the rise in the middle of the chair seat, and the shadow.

Hi,

I have been viewing pictures of old bicycles from the 1920s, the bicycle does not appear light weight to me, the rear mud guard seems to be of that period.

can anyone give a definitive date please.

All the best :)

I can’t see a bicycle,where is it?
I can see something near the chair like a bit of old bedstead.

What is the plant on right hand side? Large heart shaped leaves, almost like runner beans but rather far apart and spread out. I did wonder if the photo was of somewhere more exotic than the UK perhaps?
