Electoral register's your best bet Ken, Gateshead Library hold's Hardback copies,Ancestry do have some
online register's and a bit earlier but have you access to the 1911 cencus? Ancestry usually have free
access at Christmas time not sure about this year yet.

Thanks for your reply. The 1911 census doesnt tell me what I need as the family in question was living in Penshaw in 1911.
