I'm finding William H. hard to track.  He can be found in the 1855 and 1865 Illinois state censuses here [but just heads of household named]:

https://wayne.illinoisgenweb.org/census.htm

I haven't found him yet in 1850 or 1860.  Haven't found his birth, either.

The furthest back I've found is Philip Wood, born 1718 in Maryland. Married to Mary Slye. Plenty of information on Mary and Slye family, but can't find any information on Philip's parents, perhaps his father was the immigrant. Perhaps Wood isn't the original family surname?  Any help is appreciated.

A couple of ancestry tree's  gives parents of Philip Wood - Samuel Wood - about 1695 -  St. Mary's, Maryland. Death 22 February 1758 - St. Mary's, Maryland. - Ann Briscoe -  born 1695 - St Marys, St Mary's, Maryland death 1756 - St. Mary's, Maryland. Marriage - 3 June 1718 - Maryland.

Thanks Sandra, I've seen that information and have determined that Samuel & Ann are not this Philip's parents.

Kentucky index of will records, Otho W. Wood.
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01n6c/

This index references documents in:
vol 7    p 478, 536, 543
vol 8    p 37
vol 9    p 48, 108

These volumes can be found here:
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01n6e/

The will itself is here:
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01n6d/

The will is dated December 1853.  I only glanced at it, but it says that he leaves his property to his three children - Jonathan Clinton, John Bereton and Joseph Putnam Wood.  So, either William H. was not his son or he died before December 1853 or he was cut out of the inheritance.

I don't think this is the correct Otho Wood. The information I've gathered has my Otho Wood dying around 1832, and I haven't found anything listing his middle initial as W.

I did see in the 1955 census that both Wm (William) & Selmon Wood were listed and I have both of those as sons of Otho.

Also, I've seen various spellings of Otho: Otha, Othe, Ortho. Pretty sure it's Otho because William Henry's son is John Otho.
