Elizabeth A White
« on: Thursday 20 December 18 10:35 GMT (UK) »
Morning,

Could anyone please help confirm Elizabeth A White’s parents pls?

Born approx 1869 cramlington
Registered in Tynemouth I think.

Married George Diston in I think 1890

Children:
Jane Ann Diston born 1891
Ellen Diston  born 1894(my great grandmother)
Isaac Diston born 1896
Richard Samuel Diston born 1905
Margaret Diston born 1907

I think she re married after George Diston died 1906 in a pit accident in cramlington colliery.

I’m guessing she was pregnant with Margaret when George died..

Many thanks
Lisa

If you use the GRO website to search (You just need to register)  It will show the mothers maiden surname against a birth registration  https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

If this is the one you think it is there is no mothers maiden surname given so most likely Illegitimate, you would need to purchase the certificate

Hi Rosie99

I was hoping someone could work their magic!

Yes think it’s going to be another certificate required! As I couldn’t see a mothers maiden name. I’ve just gone off census records for place and age..  and searched GRO for a birth record.

Family tree research is costing a fortune lol x

Married George Diston in I think 1890

Have you checked free BMD? There is a marriage there in 1890 in Easington R.D. (Country Durham) George Diston, on the same page is Elizabeth White, Easington 10a, 569, 1st quarter 1890.
You can cross-check this on the Durham registrar's site which confirms that George Diston married Elizabeth White in 1890. https://gro.durham.gov.uk/pgPublicSearch.aspx

George and Elizabeth are living in Easington R.D. in the 1891 census.

I think she re married after George Diston died 1906 in a pit accident in cramlington colliery.

I think you need to double-check that  ;)

Edit  She is still Elizabeth Diston in 1911

Apologies, I see it looks like she re-married in 1914.

I have a 1891 census which states 81 Princess st, east murton, Durham

But transcribed as Dirton? Is this the wrong one? X

You must always look at the original, not at the transcription.

Yes, when looking at it myself it looks like Diston. It stated Elizabeth born cramlington on this too x
