Mdal card Norman bower Macdonald Royal signals
« on: Thursday 20 December 18 11:51 GMT (UK) »
I am starting to look for what medals my Grand father was awarded in the WW2 where he serviced and who with, I am a complete novice and this is may starting point any help would be appreciated.

My Father has given me some details to start and he is applying for his service records as he is next of kin.

So first I want to know what medals he was awarded and as  I am impassionate. My father seems to think he had 2 possible 3. I have a photo of my Grand father in India and we think he may have been in Burma for a short period.

His Name was Norman bower Macdonald Royal Signals rank Sergeant I think looking at the strips in the photo,

Welcome to Rootschat, harrybarry.

There is very little information online for WW2 servicemen. You'll need to wait for the army records to come from MoD.

While you wait for his records to come from Glasgow, you might like to read this:
http://www.rogersstudy.co.uk/medals/ww2_stars/stars.html#def
from which you will see that the medals and campaign stars awarded relate entirely to where and for how long a person served so his records are an absolute must.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
