Thank you to everybody who has responded so far!
If anyone has the knowledge or faculty to go further back I would appreciate any information on when his father Thomas was born and the names of his parents. He was probably born in the year range 1730 - 1750 in Northumberland.
Thanks. Robert

Further to the post made by Little Nell the baptism of Thomas Pyle at Woodhorn can be seen in the Bts.

"January 26 1783 Thomas Son to Thomas and Isable Pyle- Newbegin"

Presumably Newbegin is Newbiggin!

There are a number of possible  siblings baptised inNewbiggin.

William
Dent (Haltwhistle and Sacriston), Bell and Jetson (Haltwhistle), Postle, Ward, Longstaff, Purvis, Manners, Parnaby and Hardy (Co. Durham), Kennedy and McRobert (Banffshire), Reid(Bathgate), Watson (Wemyss), Graham (Libberton), Sandilands (Carmichael), Munro (Dingwall)

The marriage is on free reg but no extra detail except the date of marriage was 15 July 1829 and notes Entry is recorded between 18 Jul & 19 Jul 1829

According to the 1841 census Harriet was 50 born as you note 1787 – 1791, in 1851 the sge has been over scored I think it was 57, born 1794, however it has been transcribed as 37. Either way, no birth record in Scotland around that period.

I just wonder given that Harriet would be about 35 and Thomas somewhat older if they were both widowed when they married.

No birth for Thomas in Scotland but more than one in England.

Thomas Pyle
Death 01/1850 Houghton le Spring Durham

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

I had a similar census entry for a Durham family with the wife recorded as being born in Scotland but she couldn't be found there. Turned out she was born at Scotch Corner in Yorkshire.  A possibility?

I noticed that Harriet's birthplace in later censuses was given as Hetton, Durham. Could it have been mistaken for Hutton?

There were Kirtleys at Hutton Rudby, about 20 miles from Scotch Corner.

A Thomas Kirtley married Mary Kipling on 24 Nov 1785 at Hutton Magna, about 10 miles from Scotch Corner.
