Thame Records Search
« on: Thursday 20 December 18 21:57 GMT (UK) »
Hello all,   I am researching late 16th C. and early 17th C. ancestral roots in Thame, Oxfordshire. What I see, in terms of Thame parish records, begins in 1601. Is that the earliest these records exists, or are there earlier Thame records, that are not published online?  I am searching for the Stanly/Stanley/Standley line, descending from Ham Stanly (b. 1590's?, d. 1667, in Thame.) Any help or advice appreciated,  Stephen Stanley

1601 is the earliest date for Thame parish records.  For events before that, try the neighbouring parishes of Sydenham, Tetsworth, and Towersey.  (Information from Oxfordshire Family History Society)

Carol,
Thanks for your help on my Stanley search in Thame. I checked those nearby parish records, without success, so I'll keep looking. I did find mention of the niece, Marget/Margaret? Stanly, wife of James Stanly, by one Thomas Minchard (son of Simon), shoemaker of New Thame, whose will was issued in 1614. Any Minchard history or trees that you have seen? Ancestry did not produce much beyond surname.
Thanks again, Stephen Stanley
