« on: Friday 21 December 18 12:42 GMT (UK) »
Looking for the death of john Wilson born 4th September 1819, I can follow him up till 1891 census to 23 High Street, Elgin and he is a retired slater.  I do see him again in the 1901 census at the same address but his age is wrong but still a retired slater but I cannot find his death can anyone help please?

LIBINDX http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp says that John Wilson, slater, worked in Elgin, married to Elizabeth Macdonald, father of John, James, Margaret and Ann, died in Stirling on 1 April 1907, aged 87, and is commemorated on a stone in Elgin Cathedral kirkyard.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Reasonable thing to do, especially with such a common name, goodness knows why he died so far from home. The death certificate may give you a clue.

He was visiting his grand daughter Annie in Stirling, another mystery solved, thank you.
