Hougham - burial questions
« on: Friday 21 December 18 13:50 GMT (UK) »
My GGF Fred William Harrod died in Dover in 1929 and apparently was buried in Hougham on 15th August 1929.
Can anyone find out if there is a gravestone and secondly why would he be buried so far out of town?  The family home was 196 Clarendon Place.
Thanks

Have you contacted the cemetary?  As you have his burial date they should be able to check for you.

Where did he actually die - home/hospital/institution?

Allen1,
It's not that far out of town only about  a 10 minute hearse run .Roughly 3 miles to the church from Clarenden Place. Possibly the town church,s do not have burial space.

If you look at the death entry in the parish records you will see he was buried at St James Cemetey Dover. He was from the parish of Hougham. You can contact Dover district council who will give you the plot reference in the cemetey.
Hope it helps

Wow so much information that I didn't have.
How do you find the Obituary and where he was living last?
