Happy Christmas everyone! Wow thanks so much for all the information on my ancestor Sophia who I have been trying to find for some time now. No wonder I could not find her seeing as she went all the way to Australia. I see there was a mention of a Sophia Bridge who died in Billericay in 1876, so I will need to check out both versions of course. However her sister Rebecca also went to Australia in 1855 when she was widowed taking her six children with her, and she married a man from Cambridge who was on the same ship as her, so suspect she probably already new him beforehand.
I will be following all this up shortly. Bit disappointed there does not appear to be any children though bringing this line to an end.

I am very happy with the fact that Sophia did indeed go to Australia. Her second marriage mentions her father as being John Rolison, which indeed he was, and there lies another brick wall for me as apart from finding him mentioned at the births of his four children to his wife Rebecca in Ramsdenheath, Essex I have not been able to find anything about him at all. He was mentioned on each of his children's marriage certificates as being their father, and on his son Joseph's it said he was deceased, but apart from that nothing. Don't know where he was from. The children were John, Rebecca, Sophia and Joseph. The surname has been a big problem-correct spelling is Rolison, but I have found it spelt many different ways.
