Can't read surname, Drumconor Townland, Dungannon
« on: Friday 21 December 18 17:09 GMT (UK) »
Could someone please try to read the maiden name of Mary Jane Carrick, wife of Robert, on the birth records I have attached? The births were in Drumconor Townland, Clonavaddy RD, Dungannon Superintendent RD.

Here are links to the pages they appear on, if you want to look at a bigger sample of the handwriting.

Male Carrick July 5, 1864

Elizabeth Carrick April 25, 1866

Robert Carrick March 17, 1868

I'm posting it here, not on Handwriting Deciphering, because I think a familiarity with the local surnames will help, and I am hoping someone has that familiarity.

Thank you,
Ed H

Thank you, do you know if it was a surname in that area? I thought it looked something like Twinurn, Twinem, or Twirren, but I had never heard of those names before.

Thank you very much, I will look these over later in the day (I'm in the US).

Getting the maiden name right was the breakthrough, I googled "Charles Carrick and Mary Twinam" and found a reference to their marriage, but not the source. And I also found someone else working on the family, some of which came to Philadelphia.
