How do you get deceased people's DOB's from Ancestry and I can't with my subscription?

Try searching for the death you were after////

This is the information you gave
Can you also check Sophia I High

1916-1998

Not sure where death registered though

Use this search page
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/
I just put in Sophia I High - Death 1998 and pressed search.  It came up on the top of the list  ;D

Does that only work up until 2007?

Yes, because GRO B/M/D indexes after that time are not available on line as I believe has already been mentioned on another post.

when you search on Ancestry either at home and even more specifically at the library, select the correct dataset from their catalogue

England & Wales, Civil Registration Death Index, 1916-2007

This is the one linked to the GRO indexes.

The other dataset people stumble accross

England and Wales, Death Index, 2007-2017

is not an 'official' register of entries and is far from complete when you realise there are approx 500,000 death registrations in England & Wales per year.

The whole thing confuses me I'm sorry.

I have people I'm researching (deceased) who I don't know the DOB for. Yet I am paying Ancestry for a subscription. It's frustrating and upsetting.

I am missing DOB's for people who died in 1933, 2011, 2012.

For example:

Eliza Audsley - died Sep 1946 LEEDS

no DOB just "abt 1883"

it seems to be just random with no set rules...?

BUT information at death is only as good as the informant's knowledge.  Unfortunately the dead cannot speak  :-*
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
