Parish of Ardclach
« on: Saturday 22 December 18 12:56 GMT (UK) »
After a lot of searching I have finally found my great-grandmother, Catherine McGillivray, on the 1881 census, working as a farm servant at Rehaurie Farm House, Parish of Ardclach.

Catherine was born in Elrig, Parish of Daviot & Dunlichity, and has already given birth (illegitimate) to my grandfather in 1875, but left him with her mother to bring up.
In 1884, Catherine goes on to have another illegitimate child, a daughter, Maggie Ann Kellie McGillivray, in Pilmuir Buildings, Forres.

In 1890, Catherine goes onto marry a man she must have met while she was working at Rehaurie Farm House, Parish of Ardclach. This man is called George Ironside, and on the marriage certificate, he gives his address as Greystone, Parish of Ardclach.

Can anyone give me any further details on both Rehaurie Farm and Greystone?
Researching the names Mckenzie / Mackenzie from Ross and Cromarty especially Scoraig and Rherivach.

The names Fraser, MacGillivary and Grant from Daviot & Dunlichity.

The name of Fraser from Lanarkshire.

The name of Bell from Northumberland.

The name Chilla / Chylla / Chyla from Poland.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
