Actually, on rereading the article, I now read it as that Mary is trying to say that Fanny really ISN’T a part of their family and thus neither is William.
You’re right.
It doesn’t explain though why William, with the same surname, is living with them in Huddersfield in 1841.
I know for sure that my direct ancestor William was living in Huddersfield at the time his daughter Fanny was born- 1845- (I have her birth cert in my files somewhere and it is registered in Huddersfield district and states his name and occ. as Carver and Gilder).

I havent! Thank you for that!

I'll wait until I get William's marriage cert (with hopefully a father's name) and then I will send him a message!

Hi all,

I've just received William Lombardini's marriage cert for the 4th of May 1843. It lists his occupation as 'carver and gilder', a residence at Bath Buildings, Huddersfield (same location as John Baptiste Lombardini) and a fathers name as Bermarita (Bermarito?) Lombardini. There is no occupation listed for the father, just that he was deceased.

Are you thinking Bermarita and Bernardo Camillo are different men?

That's what I'm leaning towards, yes.

I think in one of your replies you said "How do you know JB and W were brothers?
I ask because I am not getting the impression, just from reading  the newspapers, which obviously don’t tell the full story , they Ever were in business together."

I think because Bernardo Camillo was in business with John-Baptiste, and we're leaning towards the conclusion that JB and William were not brothers, therefore Bernardo wouldn't be the father of William.

I suppose the three could be any combination of brothers or cousins.

I saw your other posting. Will follow it.

Hi all again,

I think I've changed my mind.

I'm now beginning to think that John-Baptiste and William were in fact brothers. My reasoning is this.
I have William's marriage cert- the one piece of info I know to be him. It lists an occupation as 'carver and gilder', a residence in Bath Buildings (1843), Huddersfield and a deceased father with a name starting with B. I've had several people transcribe it as Bermarita, Bernardito, Bernardo and a few have said the least likely name is Bermarita.
So, going on the possibility the name is Bernardito/Bernardo.
A William Lombardini (birthplace Italy) is in the same residence (not just building) as a John Lombardini (b. Italy) and a wife named Mary and 3 daughters. This is confirmed to be John-Baptiste later as the wife and daughters names are the same.
There also is no other record for a William Lombardini in that area.

So, why would William and John-Baptiste be living together, if they weren't family?

Both William and John-Baptiste were carvers and gilders, however I haven't found record of them working together. John-Baptiste, did in fact work with a Bernardo Camillo Lombardini. Perhaps he is the father, due to the similarity of the names. The partnership of John-Baptiste and B.C Lombardini was dissolved in 1825 according to the Birmingham journal, perhaps after B.C's death?

William goes bankrupt in 1848 and his daughter is supposedly a loose woman, of which his sister-in-law Mary wants nothing to do with her.

Perhaps after the father died, the two brothers were driven apart?
