Regimental flags, Royal Artillery

Royal Artillery units for years past have flown a roughly triangular flag, showing the unit number.  Can any of our wise men or women tell me about the origin of this emblem and if there is any online image?  Google has let me down, although Aussie and Canadian versions are shown.
