One wonders if they were under Army orders or they were taking advantage of a Christmas lull in the fighting and were taking a look around. Thank you for their Army Numbers.

After the unofficial Christmas truce of 1914 the Army banned any kind of familiarisation with the enemy.
On Christmas day 1916 it was business as usual for the men in the trenches.
