NSW death cert 1878
« on: Wednesday 26 December 18 10:12 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I'm hoping to 'order' a death cert, year 1878, Parrametta, NSW.  I have the deceased's name and have found the reference number on the bmd site.
Am I correct in understanding that the 'best' (ie. least costly) way is to go via a transcriber, and then get a transcription rather than a cert copy?

If so any recommendations?

I haven't ordered anything connected with Australia before (I'm in the UK), so new territory for me,

thanks for any advice,
Lisa

Yes it is the way to go: http://nswtranscriptions.com.au/

Added: I have used the above, on several occasions. They email it to you.

Parrametta incorrect = Parramatta

thank you, as an Australian death cert seems to have much more info than an English one, it will be of extra interest.

What’s on them depends on what has been provided by the informant, but yes, they often have much more than English ones.

If you’d like to share who it is, we may be able to find other information regarding them.

yes, I think I'll be crossing my fingers that some of the extra info might be there.  :)

Lisa, finding recorded information first, can often save you money, by proving/disproving that the cert you are going to buy is connected to your ancestors.

Hi Lisa,
It is possible there is a probate packet for your person at NSW state archives.

You can type the name in the main search box here https://www.records.nsw.gov.au/ to see if there is a probate packet for the person.   If there is, then I can photograph it for you next time I am there.  A probate packet *should* contain a death certificate, will, details of heirs and list of assets and debts.
