Thanks for looking Solid. I think I've got a lot of re-thinking to do, go forward and then work my way back again until I can prove or disprove John and Alice.

Years ago I got the baptisms/marriages/burials for Mead in Bucks, 1538-1638 from Bucks FHS.

https://sites.google.com/site/meadfamilyhistory/home/counties/bucks/baptisms
https://sites.google.com/site/meadfamilyhistory/home/counties/bucks/marriages
https://sites.google.com/site/meadfamilyhistory/home/counties/bucks/burials

These are the John Meads born 1625 - 1638:

Monks Risborough St Dunstan
2 Feb 1625 John son of John MEDE of Whitleefe
18 Jan 1633 John filius of Johan MEADE of White Cleefe
(probably one of these two died young: 17 May 1636 John MEAD son of ... of White Cleefe)

Princes Risborough St Mary
16 Jun 1633 John son of John MEADE
17 Dec 1626 John son of William MEAD

Soulbury All Saints
20 May 1632 Johannis filius Richardi MEADE

Stewkley St Michael & All Saints
Jul 1633 John son of John & Ann MEADE
6 Jul 1634 John son of John & Ann MEAD  (possible repetition?)

The closest match looks like John Mead of Whiteleaf, Monks Risborough in 1633.

There’s a will of William Mede of Whiteleaf, Monks Risborough, made 1556, died 1561
He mentions his wife Anysse/Agnes and two children, William and Anne. William’s marriage and children:
Feb 1587 27 MEEDE William & BAMPTON Alis
28 Dec 1587 John son of William MEADE
8 May 1589 Elizabeth daughter of Wm MEEDE
6 Jun 1591 William son of Wm MEAD
25 Mar 1596 Richard son of William MEADE
14 May 1598 Henrie son of Wm MEAD
30 Jan 1603 Dorryty daughter of Wlm MEAD

There are two marriages for John Mead in Monks Risborough:
5 Oct 1607 MEADE Johne & PARIS Alis

2 Feb 1620 MEAD John & CHAFFNEY Mabell

I don't know if this would be two different John Meads or a second marriage. Probably a second marriage, since there's a burial in Monks Risborough: 25 Aug 1619 Goodye MEADE wife of John.

There was also a baptism 2 Feb 1603 John son of Georg MEAD in Monks Risborough. There's a will of George Mead of Whiteleaf in 1640, but he doesn't mention John. Possibly he died young.

The post by Vance Mead confirms the records on FamilySearch which I mentioned before, the John Mead who marries Alice,(Alise). Clarke in 1657 is the son of Johne Meade and Alis Paris.

"There are two marriages for John Mead in Monks Risborough:
5 Oct 1607 MEADE Johne & PARIS Alis"

I was wondering if Mabel Chaffney might be the mother of the later children. Below are the baptisms and burials in Monks Risborough. For the children of John there's quite a gap, 1616 to 1625. That could be because of the death of Goody Alice in 1619 (buried at almost the same time as Richard Meade, son of John), and then John marrying Mabel in 1620.

Also, I think this Richard, buried in 1619, must be a second son named Richard. There was an earlier Richard baptised and buried in January 1613/14.

Baptisms:
2 Oct 1608 Rebecca daughter of John MEADE
25 Mar 1610 Alice daughter of John MEAD
22 Mar 1612 John son of John MEADE
12 Sep 1613 Willm son of John MEDE
2 Jan 1613/4 Richard son of John MEDE
1615 Bethsula daughter of John MEDE
26 Feb 1615 Marye daughter of John MEDE
23 Feb 1616 Jane daughter of John MEAD (MEADE) of Whiteleeff
2 Feb 1625 John son of John MEDE of Whitleefe
18 Jan 1633 John fius of Johan MEADE of White Cleefe

Burials
11 Jan 1613 Richard MEDE son of John. baptised 2 Jan
25 Aug 1619 Goodye MEADE wife of John
27 Aug 1619 Richard MEADE son of John
12 Apr 1623 John MEADE son of John of Whit
9 Jun 1627 Jane MEADE of Whiteliff, daughter of John
17 May 1636 John MEAD son of ... of White Cleefe
