I think you have to order the manifest from PROV for viewing in their reading room.  I think you'll find many of these lists are scant on information.

Arrived in Mar 1881 on the CATHAY   Could he have simply been passing through the Colony of Victoria.  Arriving in Mar and leaving in Apr on the same vessel.

The man A A G MALET is likely to be the Allan  A G  MALET born in India in about 1856 and dying in Somerset in 1937.
He and family can be seen on census material in England.

Hi ty, this Alan is my man Richard brother , a Richard Malet died in Melbourne so it is making the probability of it being my Richard more likely, I had asked some time back what an Australian death cert , had on it but it seemed unlikely that a cert, would give me any more details , I am always happy to know anything of the family , ty, fred

It is possible the informant knew some of these points on the deceased, though not his parents' names.
