Trying to trace my grandmother Katherine McCutchen in Donegal
« on: Thursday 27 December 18 10:26 GMT (UK) »
Hello - I am trying to trace my paternal grandmother. She was born Katherine McCutchen in Donegal?  She married Thomas James Atcheson in Cookstown in 1907 and appears in the 1911 census as aged 35 having two children one of which was my father Robert William Rupert born in 1910. She apparently died in Letterkenny aged 52 between October and December 1941.  Any help would be appreciated.  Hermione

Thank you so much.  I am wondering why she went to Letterkenny as there does not seem to be a link. She died very young.

There is this death in 1955 for a Bridget Atcheson aged 77 (same address and death also registered by William Atcheson)

It's possible that you may have picked up the wrong death for your Catherine Atcheson

There is this marriage for a Catherine Breslin and John Atcheson in Donegal in 1916 (records abode as Three Trees):

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1916/09794/5555585.pdf

Catherine's father is recorded as Edward

then this birth for a Catherine Breslin in 1889 in Three Trees with father recorded as Edward:

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1889/02485/1922212.pdf

so the death in 1941 would fit age wise with this Catherine Atcheson

Thank you so much for possible leads. David Gregory was certainly my fathers brother I have discovered before. Can’t tie up Catherine’s birth yet - her marriage in 1907 in Cookstown is confirmed as is her death in 1941.  What a great website - wish I had found it before!
