Yes very well spotted avm and you are absolutely correct - there is a second amendment on closer inspection. (am not sure why they have put 24 and 25 over those points) any pointers or reasons for this ?Thanks so all

Great handwriting interpretation skills on here - I couldn't make it out at all.

thanks all

The numbers are just sequential numbers in a series of amendments made by the registrar.

Surrey: Gosling (Richmond)
Wilts: Matthews, Tarrant (Calne, Preshute)
Worcs: Milward (Redditch)
Yorks: Beaumont, Crook, Moore, Styring (Huddersfield); Middleton (Church Fenton); Exley, Gelder (High Hoyland); Barnes, Birchinall (Sheffield); Kenyon, Wood (Cumberworth/Denby Dale)

This looks like a PDF copy from the GRO, and if so it will be taken from a return sent in by the local register office rather than an original register. I'm not sure exactly what the protocol was, but as there aren't any obvious errors or corrections in this extract, it looks as though the returns might have had to reproduce the numbers relating to changes, but not the incorrect details which had been changed/corrected.

Incidentally, the GRO have indexed this as Heeling Smith; Yorkshire BMD have it as Keeling Smith, which is what the extract shows.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Thanks for this Arthurk. Yes I saw there was discrepancy with the Heeling/Keeling name. I had to order from the GRO as Heeling Smith even though I knew it must be Keeling from other sources. But the death cert I have also now ordered and for that GRO have got it correct Keeling Smith same child.

Thanks for the points about the local register office  compared to original register - good points.

I did notice on the record it looks like the Smith name has been gone over in thicker pen both times just slightly.

Thanks again
