Mmm...

1st word of 1st line looks like Twenty

1st word of 2nd line looks like Second

Could be a note by the Registrar for his data collection i.e. possibly;

Twenty First Girl (maybe born that month)

Second Lawful Girl (maybe the couples 2nd child/daughter)

It may not be anything like that but looks something along those lines as a thought  :-\

Not sure, but wondered if the top line said - Twenty four - and then the initials GK or GR

Ahh, yes Sami, maybe GR (General Registrar/Register)?

I just noticed my own error the 'first' should have been 'four'...truthfully!  ;D

Not any help but the side notes look like a different hand i.e. can't compare?

The first one is twenty four [initialled] which is a cross reference to the 24 appearing above the mother’s surname Smith, which must have been added as an amendment.  This is the registrar initialling the amendment in the margin.

If there is a second amendment corresponding to the second margin entry we can’t see it in the cropped image.  It’s twenty something (followed again by the initials) but I can’t quite make it out.
