Dorset Family History Society's Monthly Meeting
« on: Saturday 29 December 18 15:47 GMT (UK) »
Dorset Family History Society will be meeting on Monday 14th January 2019 at St John’s Church Centre Hall, Ashley Road (opposite Waitrose), Upper Parkstone, Poole, BH14 0AA.

Doors open at 19.30 for 20.00 start.  Entry is £2 to include refreshments.

KATHY NICHOLS will be giving an interesting talk entitled ‘IAN FLEMING - THE MAN WHO MADE JAMES BOND’.

Ian Fleming held the rank of Commander in the RNVR, the same rank he would later give to his action hero, James Bond. Commander Fleming’s role in WW2 secret operations were every bit as fantastic as those in his books about the 007 Bond. Kathy reveals some of these, and the man behind Bond.

Kathy is a graduate of University of Strathclyde, now based in Bournemouth, and spent much of her professional life in the world of books and publishing, including a spell as freelance researcher and broadcaster for BBC Radio Scotland. Now a busy speaker for many clubs and societies, and a guest speaker for P&O cruises.
