james and Lily Doherty
« on: Saturday 29 December 18 22:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi looking for information on a great gran uncle who was born in Derry City in 1882. I believe that he was married in Dublin in 1919 to a Lily Roberts and was serving in the British Army. He moved with his wife to Dunbarton Scotland. I think he passed away in or near Dunbarton in 1958. My aunt remembers as a young girl going to stay with them and another aunt was over for her honeymoon. I think they had a daughter whom was also called Lily.

Any help would be gratefully received

Gerry

Marriage-

Death will be on Scotland's People site (pay per view) if he died in Scotland. Since parents married in 1919 daughter's death will not be online and she might still be alive.

His death is on Scotlands People in 1958 - RD was Milngavie

You could look for the daughters marriage on that site

You could download a copy of the 1958 death cert which will give his address and occupation at that time.     However - I doubt it will help you much  as it was 60yrs ago

Possible death for Lily snr in 1973 aged 81 on SP.  Bit more recent so if they only had one child she may have been the informant on the death in which case her married name and address will be shown

You cannot view the 1973 death cert on line - you would have to order a copy

Gerry, if the family was consistent with the spelling of the surname as Doherty, there are a number of deaths in the last few years which show on the index on SP for a Doherty with mother's maiden name of Roberts.

Let's see what comes back on Lily Snr's death cert.
