Baptism of Frederick COLLINS about 1834
« on: Sunday 30 December 18 06:54 GMT (UK) »
A tall ask I fear but nonetheless I know the skills of Rootschatters so here goes.

I am looking for the baptism and mother of Frederick COLLINS eldest son of Charles COLLINS railway contractor.

I located the following in an article on Frederick which appeared after his death in Roma, Queensland, Australia. He died 18 Jan 1921.

…….The late Mr. Collins was born at Cambridge, England, in 1834, and was the eldest son of Mr. Charles Collins, railway contractor. In 1854, Mr. Collins, then 20 years of age, came out to Australia…….

The Queensland BMD noted hs father was Charles COLLINS however no mother was recorded.

Assistance gratefully received.

As a matter of interest Solidrock; would you imagine a person who is a railway contractor would be able to read and write and secondly mix with others who also have these skills :-\

I do realise that even if a man could read and write didnt automatically mean the bride had these skills.

But in the interests of furthering research I am wondering about the probability?

In 1851 Frederick was living with his parents in  Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire.  Charles was still a    Publican and Frederick a Ag Lab. His mother is listed as Sarah but may be mis-transcribed. He has 5 siblings.

I don't think it was the right Frederick now as he was not the eldest son of Charles. Sorry. :-[
