Paul and Abel Stone.
« on: Sunday 30 December 18 12:29 GMT (UK) »
Hello

Im trying to discover whether there is a family link between these two.

Paul Stone appears on the 1851 born in Sheerness c1803 class HO107 piece 1627 folio24 p6

Abel Stone appears on the 1851 born in Sheerness c1811 class HO107 piece 1628 folio172 p5

To add a bit of weight, the 1841 shows Paul had a son called Abel born c1831.

Please can anyone help?Ive looked for births on familysearch, but nothing there.Im hoping someone on here might have researched them,or has them on their tree.

There is also an Isaac Stone in Sheerness on 1841,born c1811,mistranscribed Isaac Stom.

I do remember reading years ago that Pauls family were Particular Baptists,if that helps.

My connection is Abel Stones daughter Esther.

Many thanks.

Not sure about Abel - can't find a connection as yet. These appear to be a collection of baptisms for Paul and siblings - there's a marriage entry for Paul which lists his father as Paul

Sarah Jane Stone    5 Oct 1800    Gillingham, Kent    Paul, Sarah
Paul Stone    20 Jun 1802    Gillingham,Kent    Paul, Sarah
Ann Stone    29 Jul 1804    Gillingham, Kent    Paul, Sarah
Isaac Stone    12 Jun 1808    Gillingham, Kent    Paul, Sarah
Seth Stone    4 May 1817    The White Chapel-Wesleyan,Sheerness, Kent    Paul, Sarah

There's a bit of a gap where Abel could fit in

Many thanks for the replies.

Ive managed to get quite a bit from the census and other records on ancestry, but haven't managed to connect Abel to the others. So far as I can see,he isn't on the 1841.Isaac is on the 1841,but I cant see him,his wife or children on any later ones.Pauls birthplace is given as Sheerness, not Gillingham, but thats not a million miles away.

Its seems highly probable to me that they are related, but I just want to confirm it before I research them more extensively.

Esther Stone married James Barber, the brother of my 3x great aunt Ann Barber, wife of Peter Coppins.James and Esther lived in Faversham till around 1900,before I think they emigrated to Canada with their children.

Anything else much appreciated.
