Beatrice Stevenson
« on: Sunday 30 December 18 17:34 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can find an Eliza Beatrice Stevenson for me? I have her in the 1901 census with parents James D Stevenson and mother Isabella Millicon in Newcastle, also her sister Ethel and a half brother but she disappears after that (Ethel is living with an Aunt in 1911).

I think the family moved to the Manchester area where her mother died and father remarried an Annie but I can't find Eliza in 1911. I think she may have been called Beatrice rather than Eliza.

Her father is living in York in 1939 with a third wife Barbara and daughter Annie, he is a boot and shoemaker which helps track him down, he was/is the half brother of my Great Grandmother.

George Stevenson, mmn Millican, Jun qtr 1901 Newcastle upon Tyne 10b 102

I suggest George is your ticket to finding Isabella (still alive), and also Eliza, in Gateshead in 1911.  We are not allowed to do that lookup for you on Rootschat.

You may also find John T. Smith, who I think went on to marry Isabella’s daughter (from her first marriage) Charlotte Weddell, in Gateshead later in 1911.

Thanks for all the responses and sorry about the delayed reply.

Firstly, yes I should have put that her birth was November 1899.

I thought I had followed the Wedell lines but missed this.

I have Ancestry and Familysearch, must hone my research skills.

Will get back when I’ve had a look.

I’ve had a look.

So did James run off with Annie and pretend to be married?

Did Isabella remarry bigamously to a Wilkinson?

Perhaps the 1921 census will tell.
