It is not readily recogniseable to me as a Regimental Badge, however it looks to be Scottish with the two thistles and the Saltire flying from the three turrets.

Added.

It suggests a connection to Edinburgh.

Hi Jebber

Thanks for replying, I didn't know if it was a regimental badge as such, Both my Dad and Grandfather where from Scotland, they both served - my Dad was in the Royal Engineers - enlisting at Dunblane and my Grandfather was in the Black Watch and KOSBs, However, I don't know whose this pocket badge came from and why the elaborate embroidery

It looks like it relates to your grandfathers time in the KOSB, their badge has the castle with three turrets and Saltires. I can't find a blazer badge like it, they all have much more to them, I may be way off the mark but it could be something made up, although the embroidery looks official.

You could try contacting the Museum.

Looks a bit like the arms for Edinburgh?

It is indeed based on the centre part of the KOSB badge (which includes, since 1832, the depiction of Edinburgh Castle with flags flying to the left from the turrets).

Give that blazer badges were/are not produced as a piece of service equipment I'd suggest that the design is imply what the maker thought a good idea!

Worth Googling around a bit to note the many variations on a theme using the Edinburgh Castle as a main motif.  The two thistles have a life of their own!
