Jane PERRY- Ireland or England?
« on: Sunday 30 December 18 22:37 GMT (UK) »
Going 'round in circles trying to find someone after 1911... can anyone find her death, a probate record, newspaper account, anything?

Jane Perry
born c1855 Garvagh, Co. Londonderry, Ireland (parents James Perry & Agnes Smith)
1901 census- living with widowed mother Agnes in Belfast (occupation- milliner)- LINK
Mother Agnes died 1905 in Galway, Ireland and in 1908 Jane went to visit her sister Sarah Renton in New Jersey (arrived in May and returned in August).
1911 census- living alone at 19 Stile Hall Rd., Chiswick, Middlesex (London)- LINK
The family tree says "Secretary of Irish Literary Society, eminent in London literary circles." but I'm struggling to find her mentioned in newspaper articles.
As far as I'm aware she never married.
I have extensive details on her family but for reference: Her siblings were quite well-known in their various fields- Sarah (Mrs. Renton, 1915 going to England & Ireland "to settle an estate"), James (county surveyor in Galway), Isabel (Mrs. Thomson, 1911- Chelsea), John (professor of electricity & engineering in Japan, died 1920 Bayswater), Agnes (maths teacher), Dr. Hannah (d.1943 Kensington).

Just found this probate record in Ireland but not yet sure it's the Jane Perry I'm looking for-
Perry Jane of 8 Winchester Place Highgate London N.6 spinster died 29 March 1930 at 54 Upper Mount Street Dublin Probate Belfast 12 September to Agnes Mary Perry spinster. Effects £237 18s. 2d.
Death certificate gives address as 27 _ Park, West Dunleary LINK
My Jane Perry did have a niece Agnes Mary Perry o it's certainly a possibility.

Thanks, Sinann. I was surprised not to find a death notice in Irish or English papers (so far) but perhaps if there was a notice it's just not online.

Many thanks, Heywood. Martha Lynam was Jane's niece so the 1929 household makes sense. Martha's husband was superintendent of maps at the British Museum. This branch of the Perrys moved between Belfast, Galway, Dublin, London and Brussels.

Tried Jennie Perry and found the Irish Literary Society in the Irish Examiner April 4th 1930
Dr. J. S. Crone vice president said the Society had suffered a great loss by the death of Miss Jennie Perry, who for a long period had acted as librarian and had also organized many social and musical functions.
