burial of 3x great aunt and her daughter
« on: Monday 31 December 18 16:34 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I was wondering if someone could point me the direction of where I might start to find the burial of my 3x Aunt and her daughter.  She married and lived in Cobridge, Stoke-on-Trent until the death of her husband when it seems she moved to Wales with her daughter.

Clara Bratt died Dec 1951 St.Asaph, Denbighshire 1951

her daughter Lilian Bratt died 18th october 1957 at 10 Islwyn Ave. Rhyl Flintshire, Wales.

Thanks for any help you can give, Helen.

It sounds as if you have Lilian's death certificate from the detail supplied, yet the death is actually registered in Holywell district.Lluesty Hospital(since closed) would probably have been the most likely location for a death in Holywell district for someone from Rhyl.
At that date the most likely Rhyl burial would be in Maeshyfryd cemetery.Rhyl Library hold microfiche copies of the local papers where you might find an announcement,if there were any relatives or friends  to supply details. It's fairly rare now that I visit the library, but if I do I'll try to remember to scan the papers(probably Rhyl Journal) for you.

Regards
Roger

Thanks for that Roger, it narrows things down a bit for me.  Lilian was born in stoke-on-trent and it seems she moved to Wales with her mother on the death of her mothers husband. He was burried in his home town of Endon, but obviously not with his wife or daughter.
Thanks Helen.

If you contact Denbighshire County Council they may have  a record of a burial at Maeshyfryd. If they can quote you a grave number,I could locate it and take a photo,if appropriate(my sister lives close by and I visit her frequently).

Roger

The legend on the stone is not in the best condition.I have a photo which I have attempted to enhance. The file size is too large to attach here and it cannot be attached to a Personal Message(PM).
However,if you are willing, you could send me your e-mail address in a PM and I could attach the file on return e-mail.Do not post your e-mail address on this thread.

Roger
